Description from the seller
Halomitra Pileus, a free-living coral, thin and delicate, circular in shape, sometimes dome- or bell-shaped. They have no axial groove. The corallites are widely spaced and increase in size as the colony grows. In small colonies, the septocostae radiate like a fan from the initial point. The corallites have teeth similar to those of Fungia fungi. The tentacles of mature colonies extend only at night; those of juvenile colonies are commonly extended during the day. Colonies can be large and cover extensive areas of horizontal substrate. They are light brown in color, often with bright pink or violet margins, especially at night when they feed. But their skeleton is a perfect white! It should be noted that corals on auction are still supported by regular CITES documentation. It is expected that the Solomon Islands will issue new regulations regarding coral export. Any blockade would not only make it difficult to source these beautiful specimens on the market but also cause a significant increase in their prices. A lot absolutely worth winning, a bowl with an elegant rounded shape. Pedestal not included; made from repurposed material and used for photographic purposes only. Have a good auction.
