Description from the seller
Set of 2 Vintage Porcelain Half Dolls – Marie Antoinette / Renaissance Style – Original Floral Pincushion & FOREIGN Marked
Description
A charming collection of two vintage porcelain half dolls featuring elegant ladies in historical costume, inspired by Marie Antoinette and 18th-century European court fashion.
The collection includes a beautiful porcelain half doll mounted on a large decorative fabric pincushion, together with a smaller companion doll marked FOREIGN.
Both dolls feature delicate facial expressions, elaborate hairstyles, pastel colours and finely modelled porcelain details.
Both porcelain dolls are in excellent condition, with no chips.
Doll 1 – Marie Antoinette-Style Lady with Original Decorative Pincushion
An elegant vintage porcelain half doll featuring a lady with an elaborate powdered grey hairstyle, inspired by 18th-century aristocratic fashion.
She wears a yellow dress with white trim, a pale blue bodice and delicate floral decoration at the neckline.
The porcelain figure is mounted on a beautifully fashioned, full-skirted pincushion in soft sage-green fabric.
The cushion is particularly decorative, featuring:
* Yellow embroidered floral garlands with green leaves running along the skirt.
* Delicate lace trimming around the lower edge.
* A generously gathered, bell-shaped skirt reminiscent of historical court dresses.
* Soft, muted colours that complement the porcelain figure.
The combination of porcelain and textile work makes this an attractive example of a traditional decorative pincushion doll.
Dimensions:
* Total height including cushion: 16 cm
* Porcelain doll height: 8 cm
* Cushion dimensions: approximately 9 × 9 cm
Condition: Porcelain in excellent condition with no chips. The fabric and lace show some age-related wear and discolouration consistent with vintage textiles. Please refer to the photographs.
Doll 2 – Marie Antoinette / Renaissance-Style Lady – FOREIGN Marked
A charming vintage porcelain half doll depicting an elegantly dressed lady with an elaborate blonde powdered hairstyle and long curled ringlets.
She wears a yellow dress with white ruffled sleeves and a pale blue shawl draped across her shoulders.
Her hands are delicately positioned together in front of her bodice, creating a graceful and refined appearance.
The figure has finely painted facial features, softly coloured cheeks and attractive pastel detailing.
The original sewing holes are visible around the porcelain base.
Marking: FOREIGN
Dimensions: 6 × 3 × 2 cm
Condition: Excellent vintage condition, with no chips.
Condition of the Collection
Both dolls are in excellent vintage condition, with no visible chips to the porcelain.
The larger doll retains its decorative textile pincushion, complete with floral embroidery and lace trimming. The fabric displays age-related wear, which is reflected in the photographs.
The smaller doll retains its FOREIGN marking.
Please examine all photographs carefully, as they form an important part of the description.
Collectors’ Interest
Porcelain half dolls were popular decorative and functional accessories during the early 20th century, frequently incorporated into pincushions, dressing-table accessories and other textile creations.
Examples retaining their decorative fabric skirts are particularly appealing to collectors interested in the combination of antique porcelain and historical needlework.
This attractive pair offers two complementary examples of historical costume-inspired porcelain figures, including one complete decorative pincushion doll.
Sold together as one lot of two vintage porcelain half dolls.
