Description from the seller

Superb and elegant polylobed coupe (trilobed, commonly called “handkerchief” shape) in mouth-blown crystal, dating from the Art Nouveau period (circa 1890-1910). This refined piece features a delicate, fully hand-made decoration consisting of an enamelled purple/oxblood ribbon encircling the coupe and tied at the corners, surmounting delicate laurel crowns and roses enhanced with fine gold. The sinuous, dynamic collar is outlined with a gold trim.

Detailed description:

• Shape: Trilobed / Handkerchief coupe. This form with wavy, organic edges is typical of the aesthetic explorations of the late 19th century, aiming to imitate the suppleness of textiles and nature.

• Dimensions: Maximum width: 18 cm | Maximum height: 9 cm

• Weight: 0.520 kg

• Technique: Mouth-blown crystal, warm relief enamelling, fine gold gilding applied with a brush.

• Signature: Unsigned (a common characteristic of prestige productions of this era, often identified by paper labels now disappeared or by model numbers).

• Origin and probable manufacture:

The extreme fineness of the crystal and the very specific aesthetic of this decoration (the tied oxblood ribbon combined with neo-classical floral gilding) point to prestigious Bohemian glassmaking origins (Austria-Hungary at the time), with a probable attribution to the renowned MOSER (Karlovy Vary) glassworks, a world reference for this type of fine-gold enamelling around 1900, with an inspiration from Eastern France - École de Nancy / Vosges: in the vein of refined creations from Saint-Louis or François-Théodore Legras.

• Interior style:

This timeless coupe will elevate several styles of decoration:
• Classic/Haussmannian interior: Ideal on a marble fireplace, a cabinet made of precious wood, or a sideboard, adding a touch of authenticity and history.
• Cabinet of Curiosities / Maximalist interior: Paired with other works of art and antique glassware.
• Contemporary / Modern Chic interior: Placed on a minimalist piece of furniture or a simple coffee table, its transparency and gold reflections will create a poetic and luminous contrast that is absolutely superb.

• Condition:

- Condition: Superb overall preservation.
- Healthy collectible piece: absolutely no chips, cracks, or restorations. The crystal maintains a beautiful clarity.
- Note: Very small, normal wear from time on the gilding (notably on the collar trim), attesting to its centenary authenticity and adding to its charm (see detailed photos).

- Shipping:

Careful and highly secure packing (two new plain cardboard boxes, new thick bubble wrap).
Shipment against signature with tracking number.
