Silver Phantom Lemurian Quartz – Natural Crystal Cluster with hematite and chlorite inclusions, 236 g, from Bahia, Brazil, measuring 100 mm high, 80 mm wide and 60 mm deep.
Description from the seller
Lemurian Quartz Silver Phantom – Traces of an interrupted growth
Natural group of quartz crystals from the state of Bahia, Brazil, characterized by an articulated growth of hexagonal prisms, well-developed terminations, and dark mineral inclusions that outline particular structures inside the crystals.
The specimen presents a multi-level composition: from the base, made up of numerous smaller crystals, progressively larger prisms emerge, some almost parallel, others inclined in different directions. The tallest crystal dominates the right-hand side of the group, while on the opposite side a succession of closely spaced tips develops, forming a compact yet visually open whole.
The most interesting feature is represented by the gray-silver and dark inclusions, particularly evident at the terminations and in some internal zones of the prisms. These mineral concentrations produce an effect commonly described in the mineral trade as Silver Phantom, associated with inclusions attributed to hematite and chlorite.
The so-called quartz ghosts are structures that can preserve the geometry of previous growth surfaces. During crystal formation, mineral particles can deposit on the outer faces; if quartz subsequently resumes growth, these deposits remain embedded inside. The result can be a succession of profiles that reproduce, on a smaller scale, the shapes of the hosting crystal.
In the photographed specimen, the inclusions appear mainly near the tips, where they form dark triangular zones and fine granular distributions. In some crystals, growth bands, internal glazes, and small mineral points dispersed in the translucent mass are also observed.
A second distinctive element consists of the striations present on some prism faces. This characteristic is frequently associated with quartz marketed as Lemurian Quartz or Lemurian Seed Crystals. The term Lemurian, however, does not represent a recognized mineralogical variety: it is a commercial designation used for certain quartz crystals, often from Brazil, characterized by evident growth lines on the faces.
Quartz is silicon dioxide, with chemical formula SiO₂, and crystallizes in the trigonal system. Its structure allows the formation of hexagonal prisms terminated by rhombohedral faces, such as those observed in this group.
From a collecting standpoint, the interest of the specimen resides
