Attractive coloured woodcut view of Constantinople, now modern-day Istanbul, by Sebastian Münster, from the German edition of his famous Cosmographia Universalis. The city is presented in a striking bird’s-eye perspective.

Münster was a German cartographer, cosmographer, and Hebrew scholar. He also became a Franciscan monk at a young age. Münster's Cosmographia was the first scientific work in the German language.

Dimensions: 20 x 37,5 cm (woodcut), 36 x 42,5 cm (paper).

Good condition, some light signs of use. Small wormhole in white margin.
