Description from the seller
Refined table set consisting of four vintage salt cellars (or spice holders), made of silver and cut crystal.
Each piece is distinguished by its elegant neoclassical design, typical of the Empire style or the 19th-century Eclectic taste.
• The Silver Mounts: Each bowl is supported by a tripod structure (with three feet). The upper part of the legs is decorated in high relief with a refined classical mask depicting a deity (consistent with the classical heads of Bacchus, Apollo, or mythological figures typical of 19th-century silverware), flanked by leafy scrolls and curled motifs. The supports taper down to end in elegant feet shaped like scrolls or inverted spheres. An engraved cipher in English cursive (a letter or noble family monogram belonging to the commissioning family) is visible on the front of the supports.
• The Crystal Containers: Set inside the mounts are four removable bowls made of heavy, transparent crystal, enhanced with fine geometric faceted cutting designed to reflect the light and showcase their contents. PLEASE NOTE: one of the four bowls is different from the others and was probably replaced at a later date.
• Upper Rim: The circular upper band in silver features fine reeding or geometric edging that finishes the perimeter and perfectly accommodates the crystal.
Weight of the silver tripods: 217 g
