DESCRIPTION
A vintage children's set: table with two matching chairs.
The table is marked Schilte IJsselstein (label on the skirt under the top).
The chairs are inconspicuous, but suit the style, color and design of the table and are most likely also from Schilte.
Schilte is a Dutch family business from IJsselstein, founded in 1858 and known for children's and school furniture.
The exact age is unknown.

DIMENSIONS (approx.)
• Table: 70 x 50 cm, height 58 cm
• Chairs: seat height 32 cm, seat 29.5 x 25 cm, backrest 54 cm high
• Material: beech/birch, table top plywood

FEATURES
• Chairs with angled legs, X-shaped reinforcement under the seat and black rubber caps

• Table with slender, tapering legs and a clean, smooth top

FOOT CAPS
- Chairs: all legs have sturdy, black rubber caps that fit tightly around the leg.
They protect the floor from scratches, dampen noise when sliding, and provide grip so the chair stays stable.
They also protect the bottom of the leg from moisture and splintering.
The caps are complete and in excellent condition.

- Table: the legs each have a matching cap in a neutral wood color.
Also these are complete and in excellent condition.

POSSIBILITIES
For children roughly 3 to 5 years old.
The roomy 58 cm top allows the set to grow with the child longer than most preschool sets.
Adjustable without sawing. The chairs are low (32 cm) with a roomy top (58 cm).
With a seat cushion of about 4 to 5 cm, the proportions become a comfortable working height, and everything remains original and reversible.
Shortening the table legs is possible as well, but irreversible and not necessary.
The set is sold in its unmodified state.

More than just children's furniture. The chairs can be used as a stool or plant stand, the table as a side table or decorative piece in a retro interior.

Sturdy and ready for a refresh. The wood is hard and heavy, so the set stands solid. It can be refreshed with sandpaper and oil or varnish, or left to patina.

- TABLE
• Mechanical: impeccable, original, as-new (10/10). All foot caps present and in excellent condition.
• Visual: exceptionally pristine top, flat, without scratches or stains. (9/10)
• Bottom (not visible when in use): along one edge, pieces of the outer plywood layer have chipped away. See photos. (7/10)

CHAIRS
• Mechanical: good original state, sturdy joints (7/10).
All four rubber foot caps per chair present and in excellent condition.
• Visual: lovely patina with signs of use (stains, scratches, surface wear) (8/10). One chair has a chipped veneer piece on the back.
