Akan weight - Akan - West Africa

AKAN bronze weights set of 10 weights
used by the Akan people for weighing gold dust which served as a medium of exchange in West Africa, up to the early 20th century
the weights feature raised geometric motifs characteristic of the early AKAN productions
these objects make beautiful pieces for an African art collection
with the 10 weights there is the balance scale and the box for the gold powder
the box measures 9 cm wide by 3 cm high and 4 cm deep
the symbolism of the weights is very interesting; everything will be perfectly protected
this comes from the Campens succession, whose former owner was a Mehariste by profession in 1932
