Antique round guéridon in Empire style, circa 1900, crafted from mahogany, iron and brass, originating from France.
Description from the seller
Antique wooden Guéridon / Side table in Empire style – 19th century – Mahogany
Elegant and characterful antique guéridon (round side table) in the classic Empire/Biedermeier style, dating from the mid to the second half of the 19th century (circa 1840-1880).
The table features a beautiful round top with a deep, warm shine and a atmospheric patina. The piece is supported by three elegantly shaped, tapered wooden legs that, via refined metal (brass/bronze-coloured) collars, transition into a solid, three-point base. This construction gives the furniture a slender yet very stable appearance.
Authenticity and construction:
This is an authentic antique piece. The inside of the foot reveals true 19th-century craftsmanship, including original coarse manual sawn marks and the characteristic recessed, oxidized iron slot-head screws/anchors that belong to furniture from this period.
