An 18th-century Dutch miniature silver fire trivet, attributed to Abraham van der Hoeff of Haarlem, made of .934 silver and weighing 8.16 g.
Description from the seller
Top piece: 18th-century silver miniature: Haardtreeft (Abraham van der Hoeff-Haarlem)
Description:
A museum-worthy and rare 18th-century Haarlem silver miniature of a fish trivet, crafted by the famous master Abraham van der Hoeff (active 1705-1735).
This miniature depicts a classic Dutch household item. The piece is exceptionally refined, with clean grille work and characteristic feet. A beautiful collectible from the heyday of Dutch miniature silver.
Master mark:
The miniature is stamped with the master mark of a stag, attributed to A. Van der Hoeff. Because he used the same hallmark throughout his career, his mark wore down in the form of a tadpole. He was warned by the guild that his stag had begun to look like a fish. The miniature and the city mark are still in absolute top condition, which underscores its provenance even more. A highly sought-after and rare mark among connoisseurs of early Amsterdam silverwork!
Specifications:
Subject: Fish trivet
Silversmith: Abraham van der Hoeff
Origin: Haarlem
Condition:
In excellent, original condition. The grille work is tight and complete, with no fractures, dents, or restorations. The silver has a beautiful, authentic patina that underscores its great age. See the detailed photos for your own impression.
