This Italian neoclassical pedestal column, dating from 1950–1960, is made of white marble, with a fluted shaft and later-added lighting at the base.
Description from the seller
Distinguished classic-inspired pedestal column crafted in the second half of the 20th century within the neoclassical taste, conceived as an elegant reinterpretation of the architectural supports of Greco-Roman Antiquity. Its design is characterized by the purity of lines, the harmony of proportions, and the sobriety of decoration, qualities that make it a piece with great sculptural and ornamental presence.
The shaft presents a refined work of vertical striations evoking the columns of the Ionic order, contributing visual rhythm and reinforcing the sense of slenderness. The composition is articulated through a molded circular-profile base and an equally molded capital that serves as a platform for displaying sculptures, vases, plants, or decorative pieces. The surface, in veined ivory tones, recalls the translucent appearance of alabaster or onyx, creating an elegant and luminous image.
The later addition of a lighting system at the bottom significantly enhances its decorative qualities, transforming the column into an ambient element capable of projecting a soft, upward light. This feature emphasizes the relief of the striations and enhances the transparencies and nuances of the material, creating an attractive stage-like effect especially suitable for classic and sophisticated interiors.
A highly versatile decorative piece, ideal both as an exhibit pedestal and as an architectural accent element, capable of naturally integrating into neoclassical, Hollywood Regency, contemporary classic, or eclectic interiors. Its combination of archaeological references, formal elegance, and luminous functionality makes it a distinguished and timeless presence within any space.
Certified shipment and good packaging.
