Description from the seller
Antique carved and gilded wooden wall mirror – Neobaroque style – 19th century (attributed)
Elegant wall mirror with a rich carved and gilded wooden frame, in a neobaroque taste, presumably dating to the second half of the 19th century.
The frame features a rectangular, shaped structure, enriched by an elaborate raised decorative device.
Particularly dramatic is the upper frieze, characterized by a large central floral motif, surrounded by acanthus leaves, volutes, and pierced ornaments.
The sides are enhanced by important floral and vegetal compositions, while the profile of the frame is punctuated by a refined geometric decoration of small circles and an internal beaded molding.
The gilded finish shows an antiqued patina, with nuances and signs of wear that highlight the depth of the carvings.
An object with a notable decorative impact, suitable for an entrance, a living room, or a space furnished with antique furniture, but also as a contrasting element in a contemporary interior.
Features
Attributed period: second half of the 19th century
Style: neobaroque, with rococo echoes
Material: wooden frame with carved and gilded decorations
Finish: gilding of uncertain technique
Conditions: shows signs of age and wear to the gilded finish, as visible in the photographs. Possible prior restorations not verified.
