Gold nugget (pepita) from Lapland, Sotajoki, Finland, weighing 0.30 g.
Description from the seller
The gold in this Lapland nugget already existed before the Sun.
It was forged more than 4.6 billion years ago in supernova explosions and stellar collisions, before the Sun and the Earth even existed. It traveled through space as stardust and became trapped in the parent rock of Lapland, nearly 2 billion years old. It then spent millennia beneath Arctic ice, until the thaw carried it to the rivers. Gold is not manufactured or printed: it is found. And there won’t be any more.
In 1868, an expedition found it in the Ivalo River and sparked Finland’s first gold fever. In 1945, with the war just ended, men returning from the front went up Lemmenjoki to try their luck with gold. Even today, every summer, dozens of prospectors wash it under the midnight sun; the rest of the year, snow and polar night cover everything. Lapland produces very little gold, and no two nuggets are alike: this one is unique.
Why do you need gold? Those men were coming out of a war and went to seek gold. It is not a coincidence: in every war, many who had to flee with nothing took gold with them, because it fits in a pocket and is valuable across borders. Today wars return, debt keeps growing, and talk of collapse persists. The money in your account is a promise from the bank; gold is no one’s promise, and no government can print it.
To survive a crisis you don’t need a ingot, but something you can divide and swap. That’s why nuggets are the most practical form of owning gold: small, divisible, interchangeable, and recognizable anywhere in the world. The moment to have them is before you need them.
You’ll receive it in a small crystal vial that protects it and lets you admire it without touching it. I will ship as soon as possible after payment.
A piece of the oldest Arctic that existed before the Sun, to protect what you have. There is only one: bid for it.
Ideal for:
• Natural mineral and gold nugget collectors
• Collectors of native gold of high purity
• Lovers of the history of the Australian gold rush
• Enthusiasts of unique geological specimens
• Those who value physical gold as a real, tangible asset
• An extraordinary gift for someone special
