This Lega of the Congo figurine with imposing feet and hands of the so-called iginga category is depicted with a bent back, in a crouching position. This statuette belonged to a renowned tutor, initiated to the highest rank of Bwami, lutumbo lwa kindi, of the Batoba community among the Babene, in the Pangi region in the southwest of the Lega country. It was used at the same time as many other sculptures in the rites of musagi wa kindi and in those of lutumbo lwa kindi. This wood sculpture, skillfully carved and well polished, is the equivalent of the ivory figurines associated with the highest kindi grade of Bwami.
