Description from the seller
Historical German receiver STEG E-348-A, unit no. 0421.
For sale is a historical STEG E-348-A receiver, a post-war revision of the American BC-348 receiver carried out for German authorities.
The device covers a frequency range of 200–500 kHz and 1.5–18.0 MHz in six bands and is designed for AM/CW reception. A switchable crystal filter is available. The E-348-A devices were used, among others, for police and federal border protection roles.
The original front panel bears the following information:
Receiver E-348-A
Frequency range 200–500 kHz and 1.5–18.0 MHz
Unit no. 0421
The device has the heavy metal construction typical of these historic receivers and is an interesting collectible item for enthusiasts of historic radio and communications technology.
The device is expressly offered as untested. A functional test has not been performed. Therefore, no warranty of operability is provided.
Included in the delivery are also historical headphones. However, the headphone cables are in aged, damaged condition; in particular at least one cable is significantly damaged and would need professional inspection or replacement.
The device shows signs of age and use, but overall remains in an original condition that is interesting for a historic piece of this kind.
Please note: This is a historic electronic device. Due to its age and the untested state, commissioning should be undertaken only by a qualified professional.
