This Italian octagonal walnut and walnut-burl table, dating from 1850–1900, is in Sorrentine, Neoclassical and Charles X styles and features inlaid geometric patterns around a central scene of Saint George and the Dragon.
Description from the seller
An antique octagonal table in walnut wood with rootwood and light/dark wood veneers (such as boxwood or pear) used to create chromatic contrasts in the inlay, decorated with concentric geometric motifs and micro-marquetry inlays. Italian-made from the 19th century in the Sorrentino / Neoclassical / Carlovian (Carlo X) style, dating to the mid-19th century. The tabletop impresses with a central figurative motif, depicting Saint George on horseback slaying the Dragon, surrounded by elaborate geometric inlays. The central column, elegantly twisted, rests on three curved legs and gives the piece an expressive silhouette. The wood—medium-dark walnut—highlights its warm, historic charm.
