Natural petrified wood as a sphere – intense grain with exceptionally high contrast.- 4915.17 g

This impressive ball of petrified wood fuses the original structure of ancient tree matter with an extraordinarily vivid color palette. The typical grain of the wood is clearly preserved and runs in dynamic, sometimes flowing lines across the entire surface – a fascinating glimpse into grown structures that have mineralized over millions of years.

Colorwise, the piece shows an especially intense combination of deep reds, warm browns and copper tones, and dark, almost black patches. In between there are pale, cream-colored and slightly translucent zones that add depth to the overall image. The grain appears in places almost as if painted with a brush, creating a striking visual movement within the stone.

Fine natural lines and welds traverse the surface, underscoring the authentic character of this material without disturbing the harmonious overall effect. The high-quality polish brings the colors out powerfully and ensures a glossy surface that reflects light softly.

Through the combination of clearly recognizable wood texture, intense coloration, and the uniform spherical form, this piece becomes a particularly expressive and rare collectible with strong decorative presence.

Petrified wood is traditionally associated with stability and grounding — qualities that are subtly reflected in the calm, powerful aura of this exceptional sphere..

Extraordinary Quartz Hand Polished Sphere of Petrified Wood

Size: 147mm

Origin: Madagascar

It is a fossil wood dating back 200 million years, all parts from a log or branches have been silicified, meaning that organic components were little by little replaced by silicon in the form of jasper, chalcedony and more rarely opal. Without the organic parts, all the living matter was replaced by stone : there are growth rings, cell separations, almost like worm cracks.
Its features are those of the mineral that would have pseudo-transformed the wood : the silicon.
And that’s what we call a "petrified wood" in the common language.
