A complete 71-page Spanish manuscript dated 1679 documents a 1593 land exchange between Bartolomé Dávila and the Dominican convent in Alcalá de los Gazules, Cádiz, Spain.
Description from the seller
Exceptional full manuscript dating from 1679, closed in 1679 and referring to the deed granted on December 30, 1593 before the notary Diego Adame in the town of Alcalá de los Gazules (Cádiz, Spain). The document exhaustively and integrally develops the process of exchange and transfer of lands between the noble Don Bartolomé Dávila and the friars of the Convent of Santo Domingo de Guzmán in that locality (Dominican religious order). It preserves its archival handwritten title page, the opening sheet with the exquisite official stamp of Louis XIV? No, of King Charles II (“Second Seal, One Hundred Thirty-Six Maravedís, Year 1679”), and it ends with the notarial certification, signature, rubric, and elaborate ink sign of notary Bartolomé Barrera.
Its status as an intact dossier with no gaps (71 pages) makes it a museological piece and a documentary research rarity of enormous value for the study of agrarian property regime, Dominican ecclesiastical history, and the local Andalusian nobility in the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. It documents the rustic patrimony of the vanished or transformed Dominican convent of Alcalá de los Gazules and its interaction with local noble landowning families (the Dávila).
Condition of conservation very notable, clean and legible. It is shipped with a rigid, specially protective packing. Excellent piece, carefully selected. Original from the period. Excellent piece with no reserve price. Great opportunity."} } |
