Expressive Balega dance mask with beard, D.R. Congo
Here depicted mask was carved from wood, with a beard made of raffia fibers. The mask face is heart-shaped with light pigmentation, the eyes slightly closed, the nose long, the mouth narrow and slightly open. Along the face there are small puncture holes, which continue onto the bridge of the nose. An authentic object from the 1970s.

Hier dargestellte Maske wurde in Holz gefertigt, mit Bart bestehend aus Raffiafasern. Das Maskengesicht ist in Herzform mit heller Pigmentierung versehen, die Augen leicht geschlossen, die Nase lang, der Mund schmal und leicht geöffnet. Entlang des Gesichtes sind kleine punktuelle Bohrungen, die auch auf dem Nasenrücken fortgesetzt sind. Ein authentisches Objekt aus den 1970-er Jahren.
