Tukula container as a lid box "Ngondo", Kuba ethnicity, D. R. Congo
Classic Tukula box in the shape of a crescent moon. A lid box completely carved with geometric decor around it. The lid has a face and is encircled by a decorative band. The size is absolutely unusual.

These containers were used to store rotholzmeal. The crescent-shaped design is meant to symbolize the new moon.
