Description from the seller
6x Passorosso Etna Rosso 2020 - Vini Franchetti - 75 cl (Lot of 6 bottles) in original wooden case
Label information
Appellation: Etna Rosso DOC
Wine name: Passorosso
Producer: Vini Franchetti S.r.l. Soc. Agricola (Castiglione di Sicilia, Catania - Italy)
Format: 75 cl / 750 ml (6 bottles)
Vintage: 2020
Grape: 100% Nerello Mascalese (from vines aged 70 to 100 years)
Alcohol content: 15% vol. (ALC. 15% BY VOL.)
Country of origin: Product of Italy Contains sulfites
Organoleptic profile
Appearance: Pale Ruby red and transparent, typical of Nerello Mascalese, with bright garnet reflections.
Nose: Complex and elegant aromatic profile. Distinct notes of red forest fruits (raspberry, wild strawberry, pomegranate), accompanied by mineral hints of volcanic ash, graphite, Mediterranean scrub, sweet spices, leather, and a light floral trace of violet.
Palate: On the palate it is rich, warm and deep, well supported by extraordinary mineral freshness. The tannic texture is tight but smooth, offering great balance and a persistent, savory, pleasantly spicy finish.
Food pairings: cuts and dishes based on red meats and game (beef fillet, wild boar stews, roasted kid), traditional Sicilian first courses such as pasta alla Norma or macaroni with pork ragù. Cured meats and aged cheeses, in particular Raguso DOP or Sicilian pecorino pepato. Dishes based on porcini mushrooms or truffle.
Recommended glass: A large red-wine glass (Burgundy-type). Characteristics: The wide bowl allows the wine to aerate gradually and fully release the delicate and complex volcanic aroma profile.
Serving temperature: 16 - 18 °C.
Curiosities about the winery and producer: Passopisciaro (now Vini Franchetti) was founded in 2000 by visionary vintner Andrea Franchetti on the north slope of Etna, at about one thousand meters above sea level. Franchetti was one of the great pioneers of the Etna wine renaissance, sensing, before many others, the untapped potential of old Nerello Mascalese bush vines rooted in lava and ash. Passorosso represents, in the cellar’s view, the truest soul of Etna: a blend of grapes from different contrade located at various altitudes, capable of merging in a single wine the full expression of the volcanic terroir.
