Beautifully designed book with hundreds of illustrations, many in color (see photos)
"Gio Ponti – a World", a tribute to one of the most prominent figures in Italian architecture and design, organized at the Design Museum in London. It also offers the opportunity to present Ponti to the British public, which – shortly after the Milan furniture fair and coinciding with the exhibition "Milan in a Van" at the Victoria & Albert Museum, that showcases the best of the fair – underscores the lasting importance of Milan for contemporary design.
The exhibition aims to do justice to the multifaceted figure Ponti: painter, poet, writer and teacher, but also architect, designer and founder of Domus. His love of color and decoration, as well as his sense of humor, are highlighted with the presentation of a selection of projects, ranging from the magical Villa Planchart in Caracas to the Pavoni espresso machine, synonymous with La Dolce Vita.
