This Art Deco pocket perfume bottle, dating from 1910–1920, is made of crystal with .925 silver overlay and is attributed to Deusch / Spahr.
Description from the seller
Beautiful and rare antique pocket perfume bottle (flacon) in pure Art Deco style, dating from the period 1920–1930. This museum-worthy object is made of deep amethyst- or purple-colored layered crystal and features an extremely refined, openworked silver mount. (Silver-Overlay) The geometric silver pattern is executed in a fan shape filled with elegant floral scroll motifs. The design shows all the characteristics of the renowned silver studios from Schwäbisch Gmünd (Germany), with a strong stylistic attribution to the pioneer of this technique, Friedrich Deusch (or his contemporary Carl Spahr). As is usual with these small travel flacons from the early period, the mount is pure silver, while the functional crimped cap (supplied with the original cork and applicator rod) is made in sturdy white metal to resist wear. The object bears no visible marks, which was common with early commissions or through wear from polishing. The bottle is in a lovely, authentic vintage condition with character. The silver filigree work is fully intact and fits perfectly to the glass. The glass shows, on the inside of the neck opening, a few tiny chips/slight flakes, inherent to the use of the applicator. Also light, historical glue/perfume residues at the neck junction. The cap closes well and the original cork is present. Also a small chip at the foot. See the photos for an accurate impression of the condition; they are an integral part of the description. A stunning and scarce collectible for enthusiasts of high-quality Art Deco vanity accessories and German silverware.
