Description from the seller
Rare Nomar No. 1 Metal Box Camera – Circa 1930 – Made in U.S.A.
Rare Nomar No. 1 box camera, manufactured around 1930 by the short‑lived Nomar Corporation of New York, USA.
Where most box cameras of the era were made from cardboard, Nomar distinguishes itself with a fully metal housing and a distinctive black crackle texture finish.
What really makes this camera a standout for collectors is the beautifully styled chrome front plate with iconic Art Deco lettering and the unique drop‑shaped shutter construction.
The Nomar Corporation stopped production as early as 1934, making this model considerably rarer than the more common Kodak Brownies of the period.
The camera is designed for 127 roll film (format 4.5 x 6 cm) and features a built‑in Watson‑type viewfinder on top for vertical compositions. The side slots next to the lens were originally intended for sliding in an optional portrait accessory lens.
