A hand‑made Dutch octagonal Lodereindoos in 835/1000 silver, weighing 29 g with dimensions 4.8 × 3.8 × 4.8 cm, dated 1959 and signed by silversmith Van der Meulen Sr. of Joure, in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
In perfect condition, a handmade Dutch silver Lodereindoos (lidens?) lodge box.
Rare octagonal model.
The box is particularly beautiful in shape and very detailed, handmade.
The Lodereindoos is equipped with a perfectly fitting octagonal hinged lid.
The lid is decorated with a splendid diamond-pattern motif surrounded by four flowers (see photos).
The box is octagonal and around (like the lid) manually adorned with a splendid decor of finely crafted diamond engravings and flower motifs (see photos).
The box is nicely fully Dutch-tested and bears Dutch silver hallmarks:
Assay mark lion = silver content 835/1000 (2nd standard silver) in several places (see photos)
Guarantee Office mark the Minerva head with the letter F = Leeuwarden.
Year letter Z = 1959
Master mark vdM = From the well-known Frisian silversmith Mr. Van der Meulen Sr.
He worked as a silversmith in Joure.
It is a large model Lodereindoos, dimensions are 4.8 by 3.8 cm and the height is 4.8 cm.
The box, with its weight of 29.00 grams for a Lodereindoos, is quite heavy.
It is unlikely or hardly possible that, given its age of 67 years, it is not in exceptionally, rarely beautiful and pristine condition without dents or scratches and the hinged lid closes perfectly (perhaps with a minimal unobtrusive user notch somewhere?).
This beautiful, rare, handsome and pristine handmade large-model Dutch silver Lodereindoos stands out due to its elegant form, its sturdy presence and the exquisite refined engravings as a striking and special decorative piece.
The box has an extremely classy appearance and is a jewel to behold.
Carefully packed and insured shipping.
