Antique Central European travel chest made of solid pine wood with wrought iron fittings, estimated period 1900–1910.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful and very robust antique Central European travel chest (trunk) from around 1900. This characteristic chest is made of solid pine and heavily reinforced around with riveted iron bands and corner profiles (iron-bound strapwork), which gives a rugged, industrial look.
A special and unique detail is the decorative monogram on the lightly curved lid. With authentic brass rivets the initials "B. G." are applied, expertly finished with an elegant fan motif on the top side.
The chest is equipped with two heavy, functional iron latches on the front (without a key) and the original, sturdy iron handles on the sides.
The interior is in remarkably clean, dry and neat condition (bare wood), making the chest immediately usable as a stylish storage chest, blanket chest or as a unique coffee table in an industrial or country interior.
Specifications:
• Period: ca. 1880 - 1910
• Region of origin: Central Europe
• Material: Pine wood, wrought iron, brass rivets
• Dimensions: 100 cm (width) x 60 cm (height) x 57 cm (depth)
• Condition: In good, authentic antique condition with a wonderfully seasoned patina. Constructively very solid. Interior very clean. See the photos for a full impression.
