A 20th-century Baroque-style wall girandole mirror with two candle arms, carved from gilded wood and fitted with an antique mercury-glass mirror.
Description from the seller
Spectacular and scenographic wall-mounted light-bearing mirror (girandola), carved entirely by hand in precious wood, with fretwork and gilding, dating from the 19th century. The furnishing stands out for its extraordinary richness and the high plastic quality of the carving in a perfect Baroque/Rococo style: the frame is entirely carved from solid wood with continuous foliate reliefs enclosing perimeter mirror panels and culminating in an upper pediment elegantly pierced with geometric and vegetal motifs.
A highly precious and rare artisanal element is the lower two-light arm, also entirely derived from wood carving, which projects forward and terminates with two splendid drip plates shaped as a flower-like coronet. The central plate consists of an original mercury-backed mirror, embellished with authentic floral motifs and time-worn gray-dark patinas that attest to its antiquity.
The front maintains a rich and luminous gilding. The back preserves its wooden period back panel finished in the characteristic reddish protective coloration. From a private collection.

Internal dimensions (main mirror): 35 x 30 cm
