Rated Excellent on Trustpilot.
This lot contains a Ming-dynasty earthenware pot with 30 VOC copper duiten, all dated 1750.
Description from the seller
Mini treasure discovery from Sumatra.
From the ground of the largest Indonesian island we will be auctioning thousands of Palembang pitjis and VOC duiten in the coming period. These have all been unearthed in recent years, and at the same excavations several Song / Ming dynasty porcelain pieces were found. This is logically explained because after the Srivijaya Empire, Palembang remained an important port before and after the VOC, where trade (but also war) with China influenced the culture of the Indonesian archipelago.
My nephew has during his visits to Indonesia been able to view the excavations in Sumatra with his own eyes, and we could also purchase thousands of (VOC) coins.
This lot consists of a Ming Dynasty ceramic jar (1368-1644) with still partly original color accents and glaze with light craquelure traces (NOTE! maker mark traces on the underside, purchase lot number 66). Included are 30 VOC duiten all from the year 1750. A unique and special combination with a historical origin.
Material: Earthenware and copper Cu
Weight: Pot 74.18 grams and coins 85.88 grams
Reference: Scholten 96 / Passon 12.2
Quality: Archaeological finds cleaned but in fine condition
