Superb and moving combined display of private devotion and Christian folk art, pairing an ancient statuette and its period protective case, consisting of
- The Child Jesus (Folk Art / Monastic Work, Circa 1900) in wood, in good condition with an incredible patina
- Napoleon III Box, circa 1860-1880 :• Box in repoussé metal (original golden/bronze patina or brass) adorned on the lid with the imperial eagle inscribed within a laurel crown, emblem of the Second Empire. The front face features a decoration of an architectural blazon among floral scrolls. The box rests on four small feet (the feet are in poor condition and some have been replaced) The interior magnificent and rare original button-tufted green silk/satin upholstery, ideal preserved, which serves as a protective case for the Christ (note small missing parts)
Splendid unique and historic ensemble, perfect for a collector of religious art.
