Description of specimen:
Splendid specimen of Calcite associated with Pyrite, characterized by a group of prismatic and scalenohedral crystals of white calcite, well defined and endowed with a pronounced glassy luster. The calcite crystals grow luxuriantly resting on a rich dark matrix covered with microcrystals and crystalline aggregates of pyrite and other sulfides, enriched by brilliant metallic and golden reflections. The strong visual contrast between the whiteness of calcite and the dark metallic base gives the piece remarkable three-dimensionality and aesthetic elegance.

Provenance:
Trepa? mine complex, Mitrovica (Kosovo). A locality of historical and geological significance worldwide, universally renowned among museums and private collectors for the extraordinary variety, size and aesthetic association of its hydrothermal minerals of lead, zinc and silver.
