Statue, Sint-Antonius met het Kind Jezus. - 32 cm - Plaster

Atmospheric 19th-century polychrome-painted plaster sculpture of Saint Anthony with the Child Jesus.

The saint is depicted in a brown monastic robe with gold-colored accents, while tenderly cradling the Child Jesus in his arms. In addition, typical attributes are visible, including the lily, the book, and the cord girdle, consistent with the traditional iconography of Saint Anthony.

The sculpture is beautifully hand-painted in warm, subdued colors and shows a lovely old patina. The original polychromy is still clearly visible, with local signs of wear and aging such as small paint wear, scratches, and a few chips. These traces emphasize the authentic character and the age of the piece.

The statue rests on a round profiled base with green and black-painted sections and remnants of gold-colored decoration.
