This Lalique Art Deco lot comprises a Dahlia crystal powder box, model No. 1, and a perfume bottle, model No. 4, designed by René Lalique and dating from 1950–1960.
Description from the seller
The storage box is a Lalique "Dahlia" powder box (poudreuse) made of frosted and clear crystal, designed by René Lalique around 1931.
Features of this object:
• Design: The lid is adorned with a detailed relief of a dahlia flower.
• Material: Made of half-crystal or high-quality pressed crystal with a characteristic satin (matte) finish.
The diameter is 8.5 cm; this is the small size (often referred to as Model No. 1) of the Lalique Dahlia series. This is a very common and cherished size for collectors.
The letters of "LALIQUE FRANCE" have a characteristic, slightly grainy and somewhat open structure typical of the chemical etching method with acid.
This type stamped acid-etch mark in tight block letters was mainly used in the 1950s and 1960s. It definitively confirms the earlier dating and completely rules out a modern reproduction (1980s–present). The fact that around the signature there are also light rubbing scratches on the bottom is completely normal for a used item of this age and does not further affect the value.
A vintage Lalique Dahlia perfume bottle of clear and satin crystal with a striking floral motif.
Object features:
• Design: The model was designed in 1931 by René Lalique.
• Material: Partially satin (matte) crystal with a round/ball design in the shape of a dahlia.
• Details: The heart of the flower is often accented with black enamel details.
• Sizes: This bottle is the smaller bottle No. 4 of about 9 cm.
Produced after 1945 (likely around the 1950s or 1960s).
