This 1940–1950 Art Nouveau bronze bowl has a water-lily-inspired rim and a seated nymph holding a flower, and measures 22.1 × 16 × 10 cm.
Description from the seller
Shell with a seated nymph / Water-lily bowl (Art Nouveau object)
A decorative bronze bowl in the Jugendstil (Art Nouveau) style, whose rim flows like water-lily leaves and blossoms. On the side sits an elegant female figure (nymph or naiad) in flowing garments, gracefully reclining and holding a flower. The basin of the bowl is smooth and features organic, wavy contours.
Artist: Anonymous sculptor / workshop in the style of European Art Nouveau sculpture (often comparable to works by French or Austrian foundries of the era).
Origin: Europe (probably France, Germany, or Austria)
Date of origin: circa 1900–1910
Period: Fin de Siècle / Belle Époque
Style: Art Nouveau / Jugendstil
Technique: Bronze casting (likely in the lost-wax process – cire perdue or sand casting), chased and patinated.
Material: Bronze (with dark patina and occasional slight, age-related green patina traces).
Dimensions: Height approx. 10 cm, Width approx. 22.1 cm, Depth approx. 16 cm.
Condition: Good, age-appropriate condition with a beautiful patina. Typical minor age-related surface wear and light oxidation traces (green patina) in some recesses (see detail photos), underscoring the authentic antique character. No cracks or major structural damage.
