The ensemble was worn on the wearer's skull during ceremonies, then laid on a Voodoo altar. The mask seems to depict a mythical animal, half antelope, half spider. The gaze is strong, intimidating, piercing. An enigmatic Voodoo cult object with a powerful evocative force. Circa 1960.
