AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Up for auction: a very rare and sought-after piece of antique German tin toy from the renowned manufacturer GAMA (Georg Adam Mangold), produced in the 1930s in Fürth, Germany. When the mechanism is wound, the duck wobbles forward while the spiral rod with the two-tone wooden ball in front of it turns to simulate a hunting motion.
Features & Details:
• Manufacturer: GAMA (original logo clearly visible on the back).
• Period: 1930s (Pre-war).
• Markings on the belly: featuring the rare original stamps "D.R.G.M." (Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster) and "Made in Germany".
• Completeness: A uniquely complete example with the original metal spiral rod and the original wooden ball (these are very often missing on this model).
Condition & Functioning:
• Overall: In nice, authentic vintage condition with a beautiful original patina and light age- and play-related marks that suit its age. The lithography is bright in color. See the photos for an accurate personal impression.
• Mechanism: The winding mechanism responds and works, but for optimal, smooth operation it should be checked and possibly oiled.
• Winding key: The fixed winding key/wing nut on the side is probably a later, skilled replacement (not original), but it functions properly to wind the mainspring.
Approximate dimensions:
23x7x4 cm (length x width x height)
