This 20th-century Italian wall mirror has a Baroque-style giltwood frame, glass and a cartouche-shaped silhouette, and measures 92 × 60 cm.
Description from the seller
Elegant vintage Italian wall mirror dating approximately from the 1950s, featuring a shaped giltwood frame inspired by the Louis XV and Rococo Revival traditions.
The mirror has a graceful cartouche-shaped silhouette, with flowing curved sides and a decorative crest at the top. Smaller ornamental details at the sides and base complete the balanced, sculptural composition. The moulded wooden frame retains its warm gold finish, naturally softened by age and displaying an attractive vintage patina.
Its generous proportions make it suitable as a statement mirror above a console, chest of drawers or fireplace, as well as in an entrance hall, bedroom, dressing room or living room. The combination of an ornate French-inspired form and a restrained mid-century execution also works particularly well in Hollywood Regency, classical and eclectic interiors.
The mirror glass is in very good vintage condition, with no cracks or breaks observed and no significant areas of foxing or desilvering. The reflection remains clear.
The wooden frame is structurally sound and displays light wear to the gilded finish, minor colour variations, small surface marks and imperfections consistent with its age. These signs are visible in the photographs and contribute to the authentic character of the piece. Please examine all images carefully, including the close-up photographs of the crest, frame, corners and reverse.
Measurements:
- Overall height: approximately 92 cm / 36.2 in.
- Overall width: approximately 60 cm / 23.6 in.
- Mirror plate height: approximately 72 cm / 28.3 in.
- Mirror plate width: approximately 50 cm / 19.7 in.
The mirror should be installed using wall fixings appropriate for its weight and for the construction of the intended wall. Wall screws and anchors are not included.
