HISTORY/OVERVIEW
The BMW 320i Cabriolet E30 dates back to the period when BMW brought a true factory-built convertible back into production, with a clean, open design. In this version, the 2.0-liter inline-six adds one of the most recognizable features of BMW’s 1980s heritage: smoothness, mechanical presence, and an elegance that suits the compact proportions of the E30 3 Series. It is a model that is highly sought after today because it combines the classic image of an open-top BMW with a way of enjoying a car defined by style, the top down, and the six-cylinder engine humming in the background.
The example offered is a 1987 Cabriolet and retains its original engine, factory colors, and equipment. It also comes with a Federperiti appraisal, a passed technical inspection, and a single owner for 31 years—features that add tangible appeal to one of the finest open-top versions of the E30 3 Series.
EXTERIOR
The bodywork is still in good overall condition, with minor signs of age and normal wear. The front grille, rubber trim, and all original details are in good condition. There are only a few minor localized signs of age and imperfections from use. The original factory soft top opens easily and shows only normal signs of age. A paint thickness test returned consistent readings, with no signs of accident damage detected, as confirmed by the Carfax certificate.
The underbody is well preserved and in excellent original condition, solid and retaining its factory finishes.
INTERIOR
The interior is completely original and well preserved. The seats are in beautiful condition, with the original fabric and minor signs of use, as are the door panels, dashboard, and all period details. The windows raise and lower properly. The cabin has recently been sanitized.
MECHANICAL
Mechanically, the car starts and drives very well. The six-cylinder engine delivers its power, and the clutch and gearbox also work correctly. The most recent technical inspection found no defects and was renewed with no issues noted; it is valid until February 2027. The service history, carried out at an official BMW workshop, is documented by the many invoices available (see photos) and demonstrates the care with which this car has been maintained by a true enthusiast.

Disclaimer
Catawiki always aims to offer you the best possible buying experience. Our experts virtually review and select every vehicle in line with our submission guidelines and we require our sellers to provide the most accurate description of the vehicle. However, providing a fully detailed analysis of the vehicle is extremely difficult, and close to impossible. To guide you, we ask our sellers to provide information about the vehicle’s condition. Please consider that most vehicles for sale are classic vehicles and they often already have a whole life behind them, meaning that even a condition 1 or 2 vehicle might need maintenance to be ready for the road. It is advised to carefully read our submission guidelines that further describe details about the condition grades and types to manage your expectations. Cars are sold “as is”, meaning as described and in the condition they are in at the time of the sale and without any representation, warranty or assumption of liability of any kind as to the condition by Catawiki or by the seller. The condition of this item is the opinion of the seller and may differ from yours, your local garage, or the dealer’s opinion. This does not automatically mean the car does not conform to its description. Before bidding, please check your local legislation regarding vehicle registration. Neither the seller nor Catawiki is responsible for the registration of the vehicle in your country and will not accept a cancellation for your failure to register the vehicle. We also recommend that, if possible, you arrange a viewing with the seller before placing a bid.
