This very good Viking Era bronze Thor’s Amulet is an axe-shaped pendant dating from the 8th to 11th century AD.
Description from the seller
Bronze Viking Amulet – Thor / Perun Axe (8th–11th century)
Description of the Item
A rare, authentic early medieval votive amulet made of bronze in the shape of a battle axe, dated to the period from the 8th to the 11th century.
The object is an excellent miniature counterpart to the full-sized battle axes used by Scandinavian warriors during the Viking Age.
The pendant is characterized by its unique, symbolic shape – it features a precisely reproduced socket with protective side flanges, a characteristic upper line, and an original through-hole in the plane of the blade, directly referring to the large battle axe prototypes.
Amulets of this type were worn around the neck on a leather cord or chain as powerful talismans providing protection in battle and bringing strength.
The object has been preserved in a natural archaeological condition, with a beautiful, original dark green patina, making it an exceptional example of early medieval craftsmanship and the beliefs of the ancient warriors of the North.

Miniature votive amulet / pendant in the shape of a Scandinavian-type axe.
