Description from the seller

Refined cornice carved in wood, sculpted, stuccoes with plaster and gilded in fine gold, dating from the early 1900s.
Spectacular both in appearance and shape, its greatest merit is the modanate profile in multiple orders, carved, rich in punching (ciselature) and the precious reticulated belt executed by punch manually on the plaster preparation.

The wooden structure features a rich leaf-gilding that preserves a splendid patina of time. The external profile is rhythmically styled by an elegant carved motif with “nail” motifs and oblique grooves, which give movement and three-dimensionality to the structure.
The piece of greatest antique value is the refined punch-work on the battuta: a meticulous handcrafted incision that creates a delicate play of geometric textures, capable of refracting light in a unique and vibrant way.
Counterpoint to the brilliance of the gold is the frame’s core: an inner sought-after passe-partout covered in brick-red/purple color, which gives warmth, depth, and a touch of regal old-time elegance to the whole set.
The cipher alternates sections with geometric lattice with X-incised lozenges and delicate continuous wavy and symmetrical lines (festoons).
The four centers mid-side feature a bas-relief intaglio composed of paired opposing double volutes.
At the corners, the decorative apparatus intensifies, re-creating motifs that harmoniously connect the structure.

An artwork to welcome art. This splendid frame captivates with the sophisticated union of vibrant gilding, finely embellished with meticulous punch-work that catches the light, and the deep softness of the red passe-partout. The delicate carved nail motifs along the profile testify to the high artisan mastery of the piece, making it a lot of rare charm and absolute theater‑elegant elegance.
