Frame - Wood

Lacquered and gilded frame, with a smooth, inward-sloping moulding profile, datable to around the second half of the 19th century.
The wooden structure features a surface with a dark patina, tending toward blue-black, almost ebony-like, characterized by natural signs of wear and the passage of time. The inner band is adorned with gilding, under which in some spots thin traces of the underlying preparation are visible, in red or ochre tones.
For stylistic and decorative characteristics, the frame can be traced to Italian production of the 19th century, specifically attributable to Central Italy, and was intended to house period paintings or mirrors.
