Very beautiful Japanese decorative plate, featuring a rich polychrome decoration on a deep and glossy black background. The composition depicts an elegant long-tailed bird, surrounded by flowers and foliage in vivid colors. The motifs are crafted in enamel with a slight relief, offering a very fine contrast with the perfectly smooth black background. The rim is adorned with a wide yellow border bearing floral motifs, bringing a bright and refined touch to the whole. The reverse presents a handwritten mark in Asian characters in a reddish-brown color, whose identification remains to be confirmed. This piece evokes Japanese decorative productions in the style of Satsuma ceramics, notably those from the Meiji period, without attribution to a particular workshop being established.
