Flos - Lamp - Resin

Gatto Piccolo lamp, first edition from the 1960s, designed by Achille & Pier Giacomo Castiglioni for Flos.
When it was released, this model was initially nicknamed “Mushroom” in reference to its organic silhouette, before being officially named Gatto by Flos a few years later.

This is a first-generation specimen, made with the historic Cocoon coating process: a sprayed fibrous resin on a metal frame, forming a translucent skin that naturally yellows with time.
This experimental technique, originally developed for the aerospace industry, was repurposed by the Castiglioni brothers to create a light that is soft, warm, and unique.

A piece that has become rare, sought after for its original texture, its sculptural form, and its even patina.
