Arne Jacobsen’s black Series 7 swivel office chair was made by Fritz Hansen in Denmark circa 1963, with a moulded plywood seat and chromed steel base.

AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Original Series 7 swivel office chair designed by Arne Jacobsen and manufactured by Fritz Hansen, Denmark, circa 1963.
This early example retains its original Fritz Hansen manufacturer's label ("Made in Denmark", code 0963) and is offered in completely original condition. The chair has never been restored or refinished and displays an attractive, honest patina acquired over more than six decades of use.
The black lacquered moulded plywood shell is mounted on its original chromed steel swivel base with the original castors, all of which remain fully functional. The chair rotates smoothly and the castors roll well.
The plywood shell shows age-related wear and small lacquer losses along the edges, while the chromed steel base has light oxidation and signs of normal use, all consistent with its age. These details contribute to the authenticity and character of this original Mid-Century Modern piece.
Early office versions of Arne Jacobsen's iconic Series 7 chair with the original four-star swivel base and castors are becoming increasingly difficult to find in untouched original condition.
Good original vintage condition.

A beautiful collector's piece that also remains perfectly suitable for everyday use.

Condition:
Good vintage condition with signs of wear consistent with age and use. No structural damage. The mechanism and castors are fully functional.
