Description from the seller
Lot of 3 tin-lined copper saucepans — F. Lejeune, Paris (atelier rue Vaneau), circa 1930–1970
Set of three bright red beaten copper saucepans, interior tin-lined, riveted wrought iron handles, stamped “F. Lejeune Paris 76 rue Vaneau”.
Maison Lejeune is a family copperworks founded in 1930 by Francis Lejeune, whose Paris workshop in the 7th arrondissement equipped the capital’s grandest hotels and restaurants. The Rue Vaneau address on the stamp places the manufacture before the company moved to Asnières-sur-Seine in 1973.
Features:
- Professional-grade beaten copper, generous wall thickness
- Tin-lined interior (original light gray tin)
- Wrought iron handles with rivets
- Three complementary sizes:
• 20.5 cm diameter, 2.9 kg, 11.5 cm depth
• 22.5 cm diameter, 2.5 kg, 9 cm depth
• 22.5 cm diameter, 2.7 kg, 7 cm depth
Condition:
Usage marks and patina consistent with age and professional use: light scratches and heat marks. No notable dents, no tin loss.
For enthusiasts and collectors:
Lejeune copper from the Paris period is sought after for its artisanal craftsmanship and the history of this tinning house, one of the last in Europe to continue this know-how. These pans are perfectly usable — copper remains the best heat conductor in the kitchen — and also make a stunning decorative set, hung in a kitchen or displayed on a backsplash.
Weights and dimensions:
- Pan 1: diameter 20.5 cm, height 11.5 cm
- Pan 2: diameter 22.5 cm, height 9 cm
- Pan 3: diameter 22.5 cm, height 7 cm
- Total weight: 8.1 kg
The pans will be carefully packaged and shipped insured.
