Description from the seller
Elegant and refined set of 6 antique chairs in full Luigi Filippo Italian style, dating to the mid-19th century (circa 1850-1870).
The chairs are masterpieces of high cabinetmaking craftsmanship, made from precious solid walnut wood. They feature the classic and sought-after balloon-back ('a mongolfiera') open-back, embellished with splendid acanthus scrolls and flowing volutes. The front legs are gracefully cabriole, typical of the period, giving the structure momentum and stability.
Condition report:
The set presents in generally excellent conservational condition. The wooden structures are exceptionally solid, stable and free from wobble or settling. The wood shows minimal tiny surface beetle holes, entirely normal for objects of the era; the chairs have already undergone a full cycle of professional protective anti-tarnish/anti-insect treatment and the wood is sound. The elegant upholstery with damask fabric in floral motifs is in perfect condition, clean, well-tensioned and ready for use without need of restoration.
Pickup and logistics conditions (Note for the buyer):
The lot is not shipped by the seller. In-person pickup only in Broni, province of Pavia (Italy).
The location is extremely convenient and strategically positioned from a logistics standpoint, being just a few minutes from the key Castel San Giovanni highway junction.
Pickup is easy and barrier-free: the chairs are on the ground floor and there is full vehicle access directly with the van right in front of the entrance to facilitate loading.
If the buyer wishes to arrange transport with their own private courier or shipping company, all information, logistics organization, costs and any packing materials will remain at the total charge and responsibility of the buyer.
