Description from the seller
Portuguese dining room set in wood, marble and wickerwork - sideboard with glazed cabinet, table and 8 chairs - 1890–1920.
Imposing dining room set of Portuguese production, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century, executed in historicist style inspired by Neo-Renaissance, with influence of the Henri II style. The set is composed of a monumental sideboard with glazed cabinet, an oval dining table and eight corresponding chairs.
The sideboard features a large architectural structure, in dark walnut wood, with framed elements, turned columns and carved decoration. The lower part integrates two central doors and several side drawers, topped by a light marble top with natural veins. The upper part has a central glazed cabinet with two glass doors, glass shelves and an entirely mirrored back. On the sides there are two open display spaces, framed by turned columns and wooden panels.
The table presents a wide oval top in light marble, marked by expressive veins in gray, black and brown tones. It rests on a solid wood base, with turned and carved supports, joined by a longitudinal crosspiece. The generous dimension comfortably accommodates eight or more people.
The eight chairs have a wooden structure, tall backrest with pilasters, turned finials and carving limited to the front face. The backs and seats are covered with interwoven wickerwork. The front legs have a turned finish.
A suite of striking presence and monumental proportions, suitable for a classical dining room, historic residence, manorial house, hotel, interior design project or old furniture collection.
