This mirror-image pair of German rooster-shaped salt cellars dates from 1940–1950 and combines crystal bowls with .833 silver mounts.
Description from the seller
A charming pair of figural salt cellars in the form of roosters, made as a mirror-image pair so they face each other on the table.
Each has a faceted cut-crystal bowl on an oval faceted pedestal foot, mounted in .835 silver. At the front sits a finely chased rooster's head and neck, with crest, wattles and feathers, on a beaded collar. At the back, the tail and wings form a pierced openwork fan in neo-Rococo style, with a raised rose in the centre and scrolled, beaded edges. The tail is hinged and lifts to reach the salt.
A decorative pair in the tradition of German figural table silver, equally suitable for the table or as display pieces.
Marks: stamped "W. GERMANY 835". Made in West Germany, mid 20th century.
Condition: Good vintage condition. Silver with natural patina, hinges working. Crystal without chips or cracks / note any small rim chips. Light signs of age and use.
Please see the photos, which are part of the description. They'll be packed carefully and shipped insured.
