The BMW 6 Series has always held a special position in BMW’s history. Where the 5 Series was primarily developed as a sporty business car and the 7 Series emphasized maximum luxury, the 6 Series combines both worlds in the form of an elegant Gran Turismo. The first 6 Series, the E24, appeared in 1976 and grew into one of the most recognizable BMW models of its generation. After a long hiatus, the name returned in 2003 with the E63/E64.
