Description from the seller
Length of the sword is 54.5 cm and with the scabbard 66.5 cm.
Where swords with completely wooden or brass handles were often purely ceremonial, a leather-wrapped handle offers a much better and sturdier grip. This type of sword was worn by high-ranking warriors or clan leaders as a status symbol, but was indeed intended to function as a weapon.
That, and the fact that the leather handle is sewn with natural fibers, suggests the sword was made between 1890 and 1930.
There is a small damage to the iron pommel but otherwise in perfect condition.
