AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

An exceptional antique heavy steel savings box in the form of a miniature strongbox, dating from circa 1900. Despite its compact size, this piece has a substantial weight and solid steel construction, giving it a remarkably sturdy feel.

What makes this example particularly special is its extraordinary decorative detailing. The top features an elaborate ornamental handle with finely engraved floral and scrolling motifs, centred around a decorative medallion. The four sides are adorned with beautiful sculpted brass-tone floral rosettes, while the box stands on four impressive ornamental feet shaped like animal paws with finely modelled claws.

The elegant silver-toned steel finish contrasts beautifully with the warm, naturally aged golden patina of the decorative fittings. A coin slot is incorporated into the underside, making it a functional antique savings box.

A rare and characterful piece of early 20th-century craftsmanship, combining the appearance of a miniature bank safe with exceptionally rich ornamental detailing. A wonderful collector’s item and a striking decorative object.

The item retains its authentic aged appearance, with natural patina and signs of age. Please refer to the photographs for a detailed view of the condition and exceptional decorative details.

The item will be carefully packaged and securely shipped with Track & Trace.
